Firehouse.com Launches Ladder 49 Site Featuring Content, Contests, Interviews & More

August 17 (College Park, MD) – Firehouse.com, the Web's leading source of news, information and community for the firefighting and emergency services community, has launched a special new site, Firehouse.com/ladder49 devoted to the upcoming release of the action-packed firefighting drama LADDER 49, starring Joaquin Phoenix and John Travolta.

The site will be filled with stories from the shooting of the film in Baltimore, photos, discussion forums, downloadable trailers and desktop wallpapers, screensavers, and LADDER 49 related products. Interviews with the film's stars, technical advisors and production team -- all aimed specifically at the firefighting community -- will all be part of the site as the release of the film on October 1st nears.

The Ladder 49 site on Firehouse.com is presented by Nextel, which will have some exciting features of its own to offer the emergency services community. Starting in September, Nextel is proud to be offering thousands of firefighters across the country the opportunity to receive one free adult-admission ticket to LADDER 49, through Firehouse.com.

The site is offering America's heroes unique contests to be even a bigger part of the film's release. Tens of thousands of first responders are expected to enter three contests through Firehouse.com and sponsored by Nextel. The first will be a VIP Trip to the national red-carpet premiere, the second an opportunity for a firefighter to take his/her firehouse to a private screening of the film in their city, and finally a firefighter will get the chance to interview the actors of the movie at a press event.

“Firefighters are anxiously anticipating the release of the first major feature film about their profession in over a decade,” Firehouse.com Founder Dave J. Iannone said. “In addition to the exciting content and ticket opportunities, our coverage will follow the movie like no other outlet – aimed at the facts and behind the scenes details that the fire service community really wants to know about.”

Touchstone & Beacon Pictures teamed up with Firehouse.com to promote LADDER 49 directly to emergency services personnel because the site and its sister publication Firehouse Magazine reaches America's frontline heroes.

Firehouse Magazine, sister publication of the site and the leading circulation magazine for America's firefighters, will also feature interviews and unique content from LADDER 49.

At the Fire Rescue International conference last weekend in New Orleans, LADDER 49 actor Robert Patrick signed autographs for several hours at the Firehouse and Nextel booths, then welcomed 300 firefighters to a special sneak preview of the film. Firefighters in attendance called it a realistic portrayal of America’s heroes.
